About Us

The deCoste Centre had its official opening in November 1982 with a performance by Rita MacNeil. Since then the deCoste has presented over 2000 concerts featuring singers, musicians, actors and dancers from around the world.

Past performers include the Mamas and Papas, Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Chinese Acrobats, Natalie MacMaster, Stompin’ Tom, Kitty Wells, Liona Boyd, the Rankin Family, Frank Mills, doc Watson, Mr. Dressup, John McDermott, Moe Koffman, Valdy, Roy Clark, Neptune theatre, k.d. lang, Ashley MacIsaac, Wilf Carter, John Allan Cameron, Men of the Deeps, Reveen, Eric Sykes, Barra MacNeils, Edinburgh String Quartet…the list goes on…and on….

With its flexible seating arrangement, the deCoste is the venue in Northeastern Nova Scotia for conventions, awards, banquets, weddings, food fairs, business seminars, craft shows and trade shows. Recent clients have included the Rotary Club, Lions Club, Pictou County Chamber of Commerce and the Pictou Innkeepers association.

The deCoste also hosts numerous live television and radio broadcasts—from local charity telethons to CBC radio tapings.
