One of the most successful musicals ever, Cabaret has won 13 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Revival. The 1972 movie based upon the show won 8 Academy Awards. This Rotary Club of Pictou production takes place in and around the seedy Kit Kat Club in 1930’s Berlin, Germany. The show features an iconic Kander and Ebb score that includes the songs 'Willkommen', 'Don’t Tell Mama', 'The Money Song', and the title song, 'Cabaret'.
When American writer Cliff Bradshaw arrives in Berlin to write a novel, he finds inspiration in the Kit Kat Club and the people he meets there - but he also witnesses the gradual rise of Nazism and how it slowly becomes inescapable, even in the club. Cabaret explores sensitive themes and is recommended for ages 13+.
