Danny Michel defies genre—his music spans rock, folk, pop, world, and classical, shaped by what he jokingly calls his musical A.D.D. With thoughtful lyrics and magnetic performances, he’s earned Juno and Polaris Prize nominations, CBC’s Heart of Gold Award, and multiple Canadian Folk Music Awards, including Producer of the Year and the Oliver Schroder Pushing the Boundaries Award.
Known for adventurous projects, Danny has recorded with Belize’s Garifuna Collective and aboard a Soviet-era icebreaker in the Arctic with astronaut Chris Hadfield. Albums like Matadora and Khlebnikov explore humanity, the environment, and the cosmos. His latest release, Ghost Town, is his most personal yet—an introspective collection born from the stillness of the pandemic.
Beyond the music, Danny’s passion for social and environmental causes has made him a beloved figure on and off the stage, with performances for Jane Goodall and David Suzuki, and tours with Stuart McLean’s Vinyl Cafe.
