Apollo Sessions Vol 1 will be a celebration of music and art, showcasing homegrown Nova Scotia talent with roots in Pictou County. The night will feature headlining act Contrived with support from StoneHouse and live painting from artist Taylor MacLean.
Contrived is a five-piece rock band from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Comprised of Michael Bigelow, Loel Campbell, Tim D'Eon, Michael MacNeil, and Jon Samuel, the members have collaborated in a variety of diverse projects such as Wintersleep, Holy F*ck, Billy Talent, and Matt Mays, as well as successful solo endeavours and audio production with numerous acts of note. A fixture in the Canadian musical landscape for over twenty years, Contrived has garnered a reputation for their live performances, at once unrelenting in their sonic peaks and rigorous in their dynamic detail. While the band initially exhibited early to late 2000s influences, Addicted to Sadness is an 11-song album that strikes a balance between past and future versions of itself. Presenting Contrived fans new and old with a natural progression: a deep attention to musical and melodic interplay woven under sharp and topical lyricism, while maintaining the band's devotion to masterful songwriting and hallmark sense of spirited urgency.
StoneHouse is an east coast rock and roll trio cut from the cloth of Pictou County, Nova Scotia. Staying true to their roots of a small-town lifestyle and their will to express their experiences through songwriting and soulful grooves, the band channels who they are through honest songs that harness a unique blend of rock, country, and soul.
