Don Messer was a Canadian musician, band leader, radio broadcaster, and defining icon of folk music during the 1960s. His CBC Television series Don Messer’s Jubilee (1959-69) featured Messer’s down-east fiddle style and the “old-time” music of Don Messer and His Islanders. It was one of the most popular and enduring Canadian television programs of the 1960s. The show became a Launchpad for many up-and-coming artists of the day; Catherine MacKinnon and Stompin’ Tom to name a few.

Heather Cameron is a Pictou County Musician, educator and music therapist who has been heavily influenced by Don Messer’s Music. She, her band the Trad Trio and a collection of musical guests will share and celebrate Don’s wonderful music. Join us for this evening of great Maritime music.
