Over the past 35 years the deCoste has presented more than 2,000 performances. The highlight reel includes many international headliners, incredible artists from every corner of Canada, Atlantic Canada’s finest talent and countless local and regional music. theatre and dance productions.
2000+ shows, 35 years. From Freddy Fender to the Mamas and Papas to Stompin Tom to Rita Macneill, the list goes on and on. If these walls could talk.. oh the stories they’d tell…
For a small theatre in a rural area of Nova Scotia, great things have been accomplished. Great things continue to happen. Over the past 5 years the deCoste board and staff have worked hard to grow activity and diversify the mix of shows and events at the Centre. This effort has met with great success and significant growth.
Pictou County is proud of the deCoste and they celebrate this by supporting the centre and attending shows. Additionally the corporate community has rallied behind the deCoste in its growth campaign and invested in new programs and series. They have helped to restart a classical music series, return professional touring theatre productions, bring in more youth-focused programming and to create the Winter Blast Festival. This winter festival has returned the facility to a year-round operation. In its first year in 2017 eighteen hundred tickets were sold to 7 shows.
The deCoste is so much more than a performance venue. The facility hosts a wide variety of events, ranging from weddings to awards banquets to trade shows. This flexibility is critical to our success.
As it has been for 35 years, you are the most important element in our success. When you buy a ticket and attend a show, or choose to place your event here, a win-win-win chain reaction happens. We win, you win and the community wins by having more activity downtown and on the waterfront.
The deCoste Performing Arts Centre is N.S. registered not-for-profit society and federal charitable organization.
